The NexMPI COST Action is pleased to announce the 3rd NexMPI Training School: Characterization of Magnetic Nanoparticles in MPI, which will take place at the Department of Physics, University of Aveiro, Aveiro, Portugal, from 15–17 June 2026.
This hands-on training school is designed to provide participants with practical experience in the magnetic characterization of nanoparticles, with a strong focus on applications in Magnetic Particle Imaging (MPI). Attendees will have the unique opportunity to bring their own magnetic nanoparticle samples and leave with a complete magnetic characterization, while receiving expert training on state-of-the-art techniques.
Participants will receive training and sample analysis using advanced methods including:
- Vibrating Sample Magnetometry (VSM)
- Magnetic Particle Imaging (MPI)
- Magnetic Particle Spectroscopy (MPS)
- Alternating Current Susceptibility (ACS)
- ICP elemental analysis for Fe concentration determination (for samples received in advance)
The training school aims to strengthen collaboration within the MPI community and create a shared resource for the field through standardized nanoparticle characterization.
Applications Now Open
Researchers, PhD students, postdoctoral fellows, and early-career scientists working in nanoparticle science, imaging, theranostics, and related areas are warmly encouraged to apply. Fill in the Application Form and submit it to Grant Awarding Coardinator, Dr. Sofia Lima ([email protected]).
📅 Soft deadline for applications: Midnight, Monday, 4 May 2026
Applications received after this date will still be considered if places remain available.
As places are limited, early application is strongly recommended.
Join us in Aveiro for three days of advanced training, networking, and cutting-edge nanoparticle characterization in one of Europe’s leading MPI research environments.
